For homes with suspended timber floors, a large amount of heat is lost straight through the floorboards. Pink Batts® Floor insulation creates an effective underfloor thermal barrier that keeps floors warmer in winter, reduces cold draughts and helps maintain a more even temperature throughout the home — improving comfort year-round while reducing what you spend on heating and cooling.
Purpose-built for sub-floor conditions
Floor batts are not simply wall batts installed underneath. Sub-floor spaces present their own challenges — damp, airflow and gravity — and Pink Batts® Floor insulation is engineered specifically for them:
- Moisture resistance — sub-floors are prone to dampness, so floor batts include a water-repellent additive that helps the product resist moisture and prevent mould and mildew.
- Firm-fitting and sag-resistant — because the insulation is suspended overhead, it needs to hold its shape. Floor batts are manufactured to friction-fit securely between joists and stay in place, maintaining thermal performance for the long term.
- Tailored thermal performance — at 90mm thick and delivering an R2.5 rating, floor batts are matched to the convective heat loss and cold air movement typical of suspended timber floors.
Standard high-density wall batts are an excellent product in the application they’re designed for, but they lack the moisture protection and fit characteristics a sub-floor requires.
